Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, Ariana Grande & More Take Home Top Honors at the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards
Sabrina Carpenter continued her blockbuster year by leading the pack at the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, held live on Saturday, June 21, from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. Carpenter snagged three coveted Orange Blimp awards, the most of the night, cementing her status as a fan favorite among young audiences.
The pop superstar was recognized as Favorite Female Breakout Artist, while her chart-topping album Short n’ Sweet won Favorite Album. The album previously spent four weeks atop the Billboard 200 and earned a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. Carpenter’s hit single “Taste,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, was named Favorite Song. Accepting one of her awards via video, Carpenter sweetly promised her young fans she would continue making “clean versions” of her popular songs.
Other artists and actors celebrating multiple wins included SZA, Ariana Grande, and Jack Black, each taking home two awards. SZA was named Favorite Female Artist and won Favorite Music Collaboration for her smash hit “luther” with Kendrick Lamar, a track that impressively spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. SZA’s success at the KCAs follows her wins at other major 2025 awards shows, including the American Music Awards and iHeartRadio Music Awards, where she was recognized as Favorite R&B Artist.
Ariana Grande’s role as Glinda in the highly anticipated movie musical Wicked earned her the Favorite Movie Actress award. Wicked also took home the Blimp for Favorite Movie, continuing its successful run which included setting a box office record for a Broadway adaptation. Grande shared a second win for Favorite Song From a Movie for “Defying Gravity,” featured in Wicked, alongside Cynthia Erivo.
Actor and comedian Jack Black scored two awards as well: Favorite Movie Actor for his role as Steve in A Minecraft Movie and the special King of Comedy award. His Nacho Libre co-stars, Ana de la Reguera and Héctor Jiménez, presented the comedy honor. Black provided one of the show’s most memorable moments, reacting hilariously to the inevitable Kids’ Choice Awards sliming that followed his acceptance speech.
Show Highlights: Sliming, Special Awards & Performances
The 2025 ceremony was hosted by South African singer Tyla, who also won Favorite Global Music Star (Africa), adding to her earlier win for World Artist of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Tyla kicked off the show with a high-energy dance celebration featuring some of the summer’s hottest tracks and closed the night with the show’s signature centerstage sliming.
A special moment honored global icon Rihanna with the first-ever ICON Silver Blimp Award for her significant impact across entertainment, beauty, and activism. Accepting the award from a whimsical Smurf Village setting, Rihanna delivered an inspiring message to young viewers, urging them to recognize their potential and believe they are “chosen for greatness.” This inspiring tone was echoed by other winners, including benny blanco, who accepted the Favorite Viral Song award with Selena Gomez for “Bluest Flame,” encouraging kids to dream big.
Several artists celebrated their first-ever Kids’ Choice Award wins this year, including Bruno Mars for Favorite Male Artist, Stray Kids for Favorite Music Group, and SZA for her individual awards. Benson Boone, fresh off his iHeartRadio win for Song of the Year (“Beautiful Things”), received the Blimp for Favorite Male Breakout Artist.
The show featured energetic musical performances from mgk, who performed “cliché” introduced by his daughter Casie Baker, and KATSEYE, performing “Gnarly” introduced by Ice Spice. Keeping with KCA tradition, both performances concluded with the artists getting drenched in green slime. The event also featured numerous celebrity appearances throughout the telecast.
For those who missed the live show, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2025 is scheduled for encore presentations on Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, and TeenNick throughout the following days and is available for streaming on Paramount+.
