A brand new trailer, which reportedly premiered during the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2025, officially confirmed downloadable content (DLC) featuring fan favorites from SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Avatar Legends.
This massive collaboration significantly boosts the game’s lineup, adding vibrant new racers, karts, and tracks to the mix, promising a unique racing experience unlike any other.
Dive Into Bikini Bottom and More
Leading the charge for the Nickelodeon invasion are the residents of Bikini Bottom. The confirmed SpongeBob SquarePants DLC pack will allow players to hit the track as the titular SpongeBob SquarePants himself and his best friend, Patrick Star. Adding to the authenticity, players will race in the iconic Patty Wagon vehicle and explore a new course set within the wacky world of Bikini Bottom.
While the trailer confirmed collaborations with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and characters from the Avatar universe (including potential appearances from The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra), specific details about the playable characters, karts, or tracks for these packs were not showcased or fully revealed at this time. Season Pass and Release Details
The newly announced SpongeBob, TMNT, and Avatar DLC packs will be included as part of the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Season Pass. This Season Pass is reported to contain six premium content packs in total, meaning four have now been announced (Minecraft, SpongeBob, TMNT, Avatar), leaving two more unrevealed collaborations still to come. While included in the Season Pass and potentially bundled with the Digital Deluxe Edition, these packs are expected to be available for individual purchase as well.
Beyond the premium offerings, Sega has indicated plans for at least ten additional free, post-launch racers from the Sega family, ensuring the game’s roster continues to grow long after release.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is set to launch on September 25, 2025. The game is planned for a wide release across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store). A version for the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console is also in the works, with a paid upgrade path available for players who purchase the game on the original Switch.
