Production on the highly anticipated live-action Masters of the Universe movie has officially wrapped! Star Nicholas Galitzine, who is stepping into the iconic role of Prince Adam and his mighty alter-ego He-Man, shared the news, calling the experience the “role of a lifetime.”
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, June 15, 2025, Galitzine confirmed that filming had concluded on the Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films adaptation.
“Well, that’s a wrap on ‘Masters of the Universe,’” Galitzine wrote. “It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He-Man. It’s been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it.” He expressed significant pride in the completed film, adding, “There’s not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we’ve made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work.” He also reportedly shared a silhouette photo teasing his look as He-Man.
Galitzine’s commitment to the role has been noted by co-stars. Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, who plays Malcolm/Fisto in the film, previously teased Galitzine’s intense physical preparation during a fitting in London, stating the actor was “looking like a beast” and had put in serious work in the gym. Fellow cast member Camila Mendes, portraying Teela, also confirmed wrapping her part earlier in the week.
Bringing Eternia to Life
This new Masters of the Universe film is based on the beloved 1983 animated series, which itself originated from the popular Mattel toy line introduced in 1982. The franchise tells the story of Prince Adam of Eternia, who transforms into the powerful hero He-Man using the Power Sword to defend his home planet and the legendary Castle Grayskull from the forces of evil, primarily the villainous Skeletor.
The movie delves into Adam’s origin, depicting him as a 10-year-old who crash-lands on Earth and is separated from his magical sword. Nearly two decades later, he rediscovers the sword and is transported back to Eternia to battle Skeletor’s invasion. To triumph, Adam must unravel the mysteries of his past and fully embrace his destiny as the most powerful man in the Universe.
Behind the Scenes
Directing the film is Travis Knight, known for his work on Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings. The screenplay was penned by Chris Butler, building on initial drafts by David Callaham and the duo Aaron and Adam Nee. Producers for the project include Robbie Brenner from Mattel Films and Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch from Escape Artists.
