A home reportedly owned by actor Brad Pitt in the upscale Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles was burglarized and “ransacked” this week while the star was away on a global promotional tour for his new movie, “F1.” Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which adds to a concerning trend of high-profile burglaries targeting affluent residences in the area.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed responding to reports of a break-in on Wednesday night, June 25th, at a property on the 2300 block of North Edgemont Street, an address widely reported as belonging to Pitt. The incident is believed to have occurred around 10:30 p.m.
According to law enforcement sources, three suspects reportedly gained entry to the residence by first scaling a front fence and then breaking through a front window. Once inside, the intruders extensively “ransacked” the home, leaving the interior in disarray as they searched for valuables, tossing and overturning possessions.
Police were reportedly alerted to the break-in after responding to an alarm call at the residence. The suspects fled the scene with an unknown amount of miscellaneous property.
LAPD officials stated they could not officially identify the owner or current resident of the home, nor could they immediately provide details on the specific items stolen or their value.
The property, sometimes referred to as the “Steel House,” was reportedly purchased by Brad Pitt for $5.5 million in April 2023, according to commercial real estate reports. A representative for Brad Pitt declined to comment on the incident.
Pitt Away for F1 Movie Tour
At the time of the burglary, Brad Pitt was not at the residence. He has been traveling internationally for promotional events for his upcoming film, “F1,” which is scheduled for release in U.S. theaters on the upcoming Friday. He had recently attended the film’s international premiere in London on the Monday preceding the break-in.
Part of a Larger Trend
This incident involving Brad Pitt’s home is the latest in a series of burglaries that have affected high-end neighborhoods and prominent individuals, including celebrities and VIPs, across Los Angeles and Southern California in recent years.
Recent high-profile victims have included:
Actress Jennifer Aniston (Pitt’s former wife), whose Bel Air home was targeted last month when a man allegedly rammed his car through her front gates.
Actress Nicole Kidman and musician Keith Urban, whose home was burglarized on Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2025).
Los Angeles Football Club star forward Olivier Giroud, whose Southern California home was hit approximately a week before the Kidman/Urban burglary, resulting in the theft of a “significant amount” of jewelry and watches (estimated at $500,000 in reports).
Other recent targets have reportedly included actor Austin Butler and actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.
Potential Link to Organized Crime
Authorities and news reports have increasingly linked this trend to sophisticated organized crime networks, specifically mentioning “South American theft gangs” or “crime tourism rings.” These groups are known to target affluent residences, often researching properties and striking when residents, particularly celebrities or wealthy individuals, are known to be away.
These organized operations have reportedly been active in the Los Angeles area for more than a decade, facilitating thefts across multiple states and cities. While authorities have not publicly stated whether there is any definitive connection between the burglary at Pitt’s home and these larger organized operations, the method of entry, the targeting of a high-profile individual while they are away, and the multiple suspects involved fit the pattern seen in previous cases attributed to such groups.
Law enforcement, including the FBI and local police, have been actively working to dismantle these criminal operations. Last August, authorities successfully broke up a “multimillion-dollar crime tourism ring” traced to a Los Angeles car rental business, which had reportedly facilitated hundreds of thefts across six states over several years, netting perpetrators approximately $5.5 million (with estimated total losses significantly higher). Controlling this persistent criminal activity remains an ongoing challenge for law enforcement.
The LAPD’s investigation into the burglary at Brad Pitt’s Los Feliz home is ongoing.
