LeAnn Rimes reflected on “all of the craziness” over her affair with now-husband Eddie Cibrian. The pair started dating in 2009 while married to Dean Sheremet and Brandi Glanville, respectively.
LeAnn Rimes can’t fight the moonlight, but she can learn more about herself.
That’s why the singer said she looked inward at the height of “all of the craziness” surrounding herself and husband Eddie Cibrian, with whom she struck up a romance in the late aughts amid their marriages to Dean Sheremet and Brandi Glanville, respectively.
“I realized very quickly that there are a lot of women who’ve been hurt,” she told Flow Space in a recent interview, reflecting on the backlash over her and Eddie’s affair. “Like, I’ve been on both sides of that coin—I’ve been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling.”
“But so many women don’t know what to do with that anger,” continued LeAnn, who first met Eddie while filming their 2009 Lifetime movie Northern Lights. “I was a target that was just easily projected upon. And once I realized that, things got a lot easier.”
The 42-year-old said she eventually determined that she can’t take the hate against her and Eddie’s relationship “personally.”
“I know what I’m responsible for in the situation and making amends for that,” LeAnn added. “But you know, the world’s pain is not mine to carry, and I think that really got thrown at me for a long time.”
LeAnn and Eddie, 52, married in 2011, less than one year after their respective divorces from Dean and Brandi were finalized.
Looking back at her journey of self-discovery, the Coyote Ugly actress remarked, “If I want to live a fulfilling life, I’ve got to learn how to let that guard down. To me, it was either I was going to die, or I had to confront it.”
She added, “I think I’ve gone from survival to thriving to—if there is a level up from thriving—to truly living. I think that’s where I’m headed.”
And in the years since her affair, LeAnn has also buried the hatchet with Brandi, who shares sons Mason, 22, and Jake, 18, with Eddie. In fact, they had a sweet blended family moment in June to watch Jake graduate from high school.
“And just like that it’s Graduation Day!!!” Brandi wrote on Instagram, with LeAnn adding in a post of her own, “We love you jake!!!!! YOU DID IT!!!”
