Investigators in Colorado are seeking suspects behind a sophisticated heist involving a semi-truck carrying a massive shipment of the newly released Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. The theft, valued at an estimated $1.4 million, was discovered earlier this month at a truck stop.

The incident came to light on the morning of June 8 when a truck driver conducting a pre-trip inspection at a Love’s Truck Stop in Bennett, Colorado, noticed his trailer had been broken into. The driver immediately alerted the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the thieves made off with a staggering 2,810 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. With each console valued at $499, the total estimated loss reaches approximately $1.4 million.

Adding to the audacity of the crime, the theft occurred just three days after the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 reportedly launched on June 5. The consoles are said to be incredibly popular and “flying off the shelves.”

The semi-truck was en route from a Nintendo of America facility in Redmond, Washington, heading towards a GameStop store in Grapevine, Texas. The driver informed deputies that he was unaware of the trailer’s specific contents, knowing only that it contained games or toys. Interestingly, investigators noted that the trailer did not display any prominent Nintendo branding or decals that might have indicated its high-value cargo.

At this time, deputies are actively investigating the case but remain unsure whether the break-in and theft occurred while the truck was parked in Bennett or during a stop at another location earlier along its route.

The suspect or suspects responsible for this brazen theft could face serious charges, including felony theft valued at $1 million or more and criminal mischief.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 720-874-8477. Tipsters have the option to remain anonymous.
