UK Prosecutors Detail 21 Charges Authorised for Tate Brothers

UK prosecutors have officially confirmed the extensive list of charges awaiting brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate upon their potential return to the United Kingdom. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that a total of 21 charges have been authorised against the pair, including grave allegations such as rape, actual bodily harm (ABH), and human trafficking.

This confirmation marks the first public detailing of the full scope of the UK charges. The CPS stated that the authorisation for these charges was issued in 2024, preceding the formal extradition warrant sent to Romania seeking their return to the UK.

The Specific Allegations

The charges authorised stem from an evidence file submitted by Bedfordshire Police regarding alleged incidents in the UK. According to the CPS breakdown:

Andrew Tate, a 38-year-old influencer and former kickboxer, faces 10 charges. These are connected to three alleged victims and include allegations of rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain.
Tristan Tate, 36, faces 11 charges. These are linked to one alleged victim and comprise allegations of rape, actual bodily harm, and human trafficking.

The brothers’ legal representatives have indicated that these UK allegations date back to the period between 2012 and 2015.

UK Proceedings Contingent on Romanian Case

Crucially, the CPS has clarified that any domestic criminal matters in the UK cannot proceed until the separate legal issues the Tate brothers face in Romania are resolved. The brothers, who are British-American and spent part of their youth in Luton, UK, are currently under investigation and facing numerous charges in Romania, which they consistently deny. A Romanian court previously ruled that extradition to the UK would only be permitted after the conclusion of the legal proceedings against them in Romania.

Background and Legal History

Andrew Tate has built a significant global online presence, notably with over 10 million followers on X (formerly Twitter), often sharing content related to a lavish lifestyle. He has also described himself as a misogynist.

The brothers’ legal troubles in Romania began with their initial arrest in December 2022 on accusations of rape and human trafficking (Andrew) and human trafficking (Tristan). They denied these charges and were held for several months, including under house arrest. In August 2024, they reportedly faced new allegations in Romania, including sex with a minor and trafficking underage persons, allegations they also deny.

Separately, the brothers were detained in Bucharest in March 2024 based on the arrest warrant obtained by Bedfordshire Police concerning the UK allegations. At the time, the Tates stated through their legal team that they “categorically reject all charges” and were “very innocent men.”

Recent Developments and Denials

Following the Romanian court ruling on extradition timing, the brothers were released from custody in Romania. Unexpectedly, a two-year travel ban was lifted by Romanian prosecutors earlier in 2025. This allowed them to travel by private jet from Romania to Florida in the United States in February 2025. They returned to Romania in March 2025, telling reporters upon arrival that “innocent men don’t run from anything.”

The brothers have stated they registered with Bucharest authorities as a legal formality to demonstrate compliance with the ongoing criminal investigation in Romania. Andrew Tate has publicly vowed to clear his name in both Romania and the UK, maintaining his and his brother’s innocence regarding all allegations in both jurisdictions.
